Seeking specific fabrics for its products: all comes from the Silk Road; which Johana well regards for its fabric knowledge, quality and material; known for its smooth texture, sheen, and vibrant colours.
 

JohanaWilla signature lives in the details, handcrafted with the utmost care.

DESIGNER STORY

BIBLIOGRAPHY

"Born in France, I grew up with four other siblings. From a young age I was more into sports than into arts and crafts. I namely practised horse riding, ice skating, Crossfit and weightlifting.  

I was privately educated but never found what I was truly passionate about. As for my studies, I first attended a university of management and economics, took a minor in anatomy and sport studies then decided to pursue knowledge in journalism, media and mass communication where I obtained a master at the European Institute of Journalism, Paris.
 
Like a bee that forage flowers in a row I seeks knowledge. Once filled with a specific skill I seek another one, without predicting what I will be interested in next.
 
And so, before launching the brand JohanaWilla, I travelled for a while to work as a journalist. I moved to the M-E, West Asia, to work as a sports reporter in the region. Interestingly enough, it's at that same period of time that I started seeking knowledge and interest on fabrics. 

  
Moving from a region to another, in 2020, living in the city of London, I was freelancing for some media while working on some fashion design sketches. Meeting with people passing by London, working with foreign coworkers and ending learning their languages. It's at that time that I started learning Japanese and Chinese.

 

A year later, I designed my first hat. And so that how the brand JohanaWilla has started." - Johana

"I’m fond of vanilla, pistachio and saffron. Early morning sunrise above a sleepy city, hot weather countries, and seaside view serenity. Respect, kindness and honour.

Often depressed about not being in the right place at the right time in my life, I go through life with a certain melancholy in search of the purpose of my life.

While searching for a satisfying answer, I am keen on trying to beautify lives through colours and tastes that bring a feeling of joy. That is my goal in bringing the JohanaWilla brand to life. A tool, a meaning, a philosophy, an appreciation."

Approach:Trying to Outflow the Era

Cities diving in greyness.
Bland, soulless, depressing. 

Where are the colours, the ornaments, the brightness, the souls of a building in construction. Where are the colours, the bold structures, the uniqueness design and identity.

Objects, cars, houses and buildings,…, everything is becoming cheap while being blandness.

Since when the Empire State Building became more attractive than La Sagrada Familia ?
Where are the colourful bold shaped Cadillac? Replaced by bland coloured smooth shape cars all looking alike each other.

Today 60% of all the objects in this world are either black or grey.

This past decades brought the worst of humanity.
Let’s try to bring back colours to our meaningful live.

 

Revive our communities, nurture our souls. Let’s trying to feel alive.

JohanaWilla employs around ten people in its workshops. Collaborates with contract painters, embroiderers and tailors across the world, countries like the UK, Italy, Portugal and India.
